A student of mine came up to me recently, she started as a toddler and is now a level 7 gymnast about to compete at the Maine State Meet. It's a great story and one that gets repeated so often at Maine academy that we sometimes forget how great it is.
This particular gymnast has had her share of bumps and bruises, all the good ones do. And when I look at her today, I see the achievement of 7 years of effort, the grace on the uneven parallel bars and the floor, the strength on the balance beam. Of course what you don't see are the sprains and bruises she fought through along the way. But those are all great challenges to over come and training for real life.
