Develop coordination, strength, flexibility and agility
The Maine Academy of Gymnastics is designed to develop coordination, strength, flexibility and agility through motor activities and progressive gymnastics
skills. Children are taught on all Olympic apparatus, including trampoline and
will improve their overall fitness levels. It is the goal of Maine Academy to
ensure that each child experiences success and individual accomplishment with
each new skill they master.
The WINGS PROGRAMS have five progressive recreational levels: Red, White, Blue,
Silver and Gold. Each level has a list of specific skills and moves based on
the USA Gymnastics guidelines. Children have the opportunity to display these
at the end of each session and receive certificates and awards. Midway though
each session, coaches will send home a progress report so the children can see
where they have improved and also what areas need more attention. Students are
encouraged to attend more than once a week and discounts are available for
those who choose to attend more frequently.
Students are evaluated in every class by their instructors. It is important
that students are placed in a class that fits their overall gymnastics level.
If at anytime, the coaches feel that a child should be moved to another class
that is more appropriate for their age and gymnastics level, parents will be
informed right away. Every child learns gymnastics at different paces. In order
to ensure a positive experience, the coaching staff at Maine Academy strives to
keep the classes progressive all while having fun.
